Poet Rita Dove to read from new book

Rita Dove, Commonwealth Professor of English and newly appointed poet laureate of Virginia, will read from her new collection of poems, “American Smooth,” Sept. 21, 7:30 p.m., in the V. Earl Dickinson Theatre at Piedmont Virginia Community College. The reading will be followed by a book signing and reception. Tickets are required, as seating is limited, but are free and will be available beginning Sept. 7 at Barnes & Noble Bookstore. Limit two tickets per person.
