Holiday art auction Dec. 4

cal owen

The Art Museum’s ninth annual art auction, themed “The Four Elements,” will be on Dec. 4, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the museum. Hosted by the Young Friends of the University museum, the auction will feature works by artists (such as the one at right) on the theme of the four elements: water, earth, air and fire. A cocktail party will precede the silent auction. This year’s proceeds will help fund educational programs for children, such as scholarships for at-risk youth attending the museum’s arts academy, Summer Arts @ the Museum and the Spring Family Festival. The scholarships allow children to work with nationally recognized artists. Last year’s auction raised $12,000 for museum programs.
