The Lorna Sundberg International Center
The Lorna Sundberg International Center hosted a performance on April 23 by the Charlottesville Gamelan Ensemble, which entertained a crowd of 100 with the melodious percussion music native to Java, Indonesia. The Gamelan orchestra often accompanies the traditional entertainments of shadow puppet show, court ritual and dance. Formed 20 years ago, the Charlottesville Gamelan features the sounds from xylophones, tuned bronze gongs, bowed instruments, drums and the flute.
