22nd annual telethon set for June 3 and 4 This
year’s 22nd annual U.Va. Children’s
Hospital
Telethon is set for Saturday and Sunday,
June 3 and 4.WVIR NBC-29 will broadcast live
local segments from the seventh floor of University
Hospital beginning Saturday at 8 p.m. through
11:30 p.m. and again on Sunday from 10 a.m.
until 6:30 p.m. During the broadcast, area families
will share their personal experiences in receiving
care at U.Va. Children’s Hospital.The stories
will feature kids like Charley Gorman, an 11-year-old
girl who suffered a life-threatening stroke that
caused a loss of vision and paralysis on her left
side.After 24 days at the Kluge Children’s Rehabilitation
Center, Charley returned to her home in The
Walk for Kids, a family-fun telethon event,
will take place on June 3. Each year, U.Va. Health
System employees join other members of the
community to support U.Va. Children’s Hospital
through participating in the Walk for Kids and the
