Running Oracle Processes and Reports
In this section, you will learn how to access, run, and view
standard Oracle Processes and Reports.
There is another application, Oracle Discoverer, in which there
are many other reports. In Oracle Discoverer you have the ability
to run and view pre-defined reports from the database as well as
create your own reports. There are two classes offered to help
with using Discoverer: ODS Viewer will help you learn how to run
and view pre-defined reports in Discoverer; ODS2 will help you learn
how to create your own reports. Oracle Discoverer is not covered in
this course.
Steps:
- Each module in the Integrated System contains standard processes and reports. These processes and reports are specific to the expansibility. In other words, if you are logged into the Integrated System as a UVA PO Purchaser, you will only see the reports and processes available to you under that responsibility. You will not see ALL standard processes and reports. Step 1
- Expand the list under Reports.
Click the + Reports list item. Step 2 - Double-click the Run list item. Step 3
- Reports are most likely run as a Single Request. Processes may be Single Requests or Request Sets. Your module-specific training and documentation will identify when you should run certain Reports and Processes and whether they are Single Requests or Request Sets. Step 4
- Single Request defaulted for you.
Click the OK button. Step 5 - View the List of Values for the Name of the Request.
Click the ... button. Step 6 - The reports to which you have access are responsibility-specific.
For example, if you have logged into the Integrated System as a UVA PO Purchaser the list of reports and processes you will be able to run are different from those that you will have access to if you log in as a UVA HRMS Timekeeper. Step 7 - Printed Requisitions Report has been selected for you.
Click the OK button. Step 8 - The Parameter form for the Report or Process must be completed. The Parameters vary, depending on the Report or Process selected. Step 9

Click the OK button. Step 10 - You have the ability to run reports or processes on a predetermined schedule. Next, see what options are available for scheduling reports and processes.
Click the Schedule... button. Step 11 - "As Soon as Possible" is the default, but you can also schedule the report or process to run once at a set time, on a periodic basis, or on specific days.
Click the Once option. Step 12 - If you choose to the "Once" option, you have the ability to specify the date and time you want to run the job. Step 13
- Click in the Run At field. Step 14
- Click the ... button. Step 15
- The list of values for any date field is the calendar. Step 16
- Click the Cancel button. Step 17
- Click the Periodically option. Step 18
- This option allows you to enter start and end date parameters and how often you want the report or process run.
You can also save the schedule by checking the checkbox in the lower left corner of the form. You can then access the saved schedule by clicking on the Apply a Saved Schedule button when you run the process or report. Step 19 - Click the On Specific Days option. Step 20
- This option allows you to select the dates of the month or days of the week when you would like to run the process or report. Step 21
- Click the Cancel button. Step 22
- Click the Options... button. Step 23
- In the Notify the following people section you can enter a name of an individual to be notified of the action. In the Print the Output To section you can specify the printer to which you want the output printed and the number of copies you want. Step 24
- Click the Cancel button. Step 25
- When you are ready to run the process or report, you will submit it.
Click the Submit button. Step 26 - You must refresh the data on the form until you see that the phase is "Completed".
Click the Refresh Data button. Step 27 - You can see the Output of the process or report. Sometimes you will be required to View Log, but most of the time you will choose to View the Output.
Click the View Output button. Step 28 - Your report will appear. You can print from this screen as well, even if you did not choose printing as an option upon completion. Step 29
