Re-installing Jinitiator 1.3.1.23.

1. Un-install old or non-working copies of Jinitiator. From Start/ Settings/ Control Panel/ Add or Remove Programs, select "Oracle Jinitiator 1.3.1.23", click Change/ Remove button. Repeat for any other Oracle Jinitiators.

2. Ensure the files were properly removed: open Windows Explorer and verify the Jinitiator folder is removed from C:\Program Files\Oracle\. The file C:\Program Files\Oracle\ identitydb.obj may need to be deleted.

3. Empty Jcache: open Windows Explorer and verify the directory C:\Documents and Settings\{your user ID}\Oracle Jar Cache is empty.

4. Delete IE cache: Start/ Settings/ Control Panel/ Internet Options, General tab, Delete Files button, check Delete All Offline Content, OK, OK.
It is suggested to also go to the Advanced tab, scroll to the bottom, check "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed".

5. It is suggested that the IS site be added to the Trusted Zone. Please see:

6. It is also suggested that the XP Pop-up blocker be set to allow pop-ups from admin.virginia.edu sites. For details, See http://www.virginia.edu/integratedsystem/howdoi/SP2%20FAQ.html#popup

7. Power the computer off/ on.

8. Start VPN and re-logon to the Integrated System using Internet Explorer for Jinitiator automatic download/ install.
