What is JRE?
JRE is Java Runtime Engine. JRE is replacing JInitiator as the client application used to run forms in the Integrated System effective November 17, 2008.
How can I install JRE on my computer?
If your computer does not already have JRE version 1.6.0_07 or higher, JRE will automatically download when you connect to the Integrated System and invoke a form.
I connected to the Integrated System and received the following message in a yellow bar: "This website wants to install the following add-on: 'Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6.0 Update 7' from 'Sun Microsystems, Inc.'. If you want to trust the website and the add-on and want to install it, click here...". What should I do
?
Click the yellow bar and choose “Install ActiveX control…”.
Click the install button on the Internet Explorer – Security Warning box.
Click accept in the Java Setup – Welcome box.
Click finish in the Java Setup – Complete box.
During the JRE install, I received the message "This account does not have sufficient privileges to install Java(TM...").
Your account does not have administrative privileges on your computer. Log on to the computer with an account that has administrative privileges, or contact your LSP.
Do I need to uninstall JInitiator?
JRE and JInitiator can coexist, so you do not need to uninstall JInitiator for JRE to operate properly. If you would like to remove JInitiator after November 17th, you may do so.
What operating systems and internet browsers are supported?
The following operating systems/internet browser combinations are supported with JRE version 1.6.0_07:
- Microsoft Windows Vista, SP1 with Internet Explorer 6/7 or Firefox 2.0
- Microsoft Windows XP, SP2 and SP3 running Internet Explorer 6/7 or Firefox 2.0
- Mac OS V10.3.9 running Safari 1.3.2 and later
- Mac OS V10.4.7 or higher running Safari 2.0.4 or later
When I open a form, the cursor is not in the field I expect it to be in.
You must click in the field in order to activate the cursor so that you may begin keying data. This is a known issue that ISDS is currently working to resolve.
I received a message in my system tray stating that a new version of Java is available. Should I upgrade?
You are not required to upgrade JRE for Integrated System access, so you may ignore this message.
Whom should I contact for support?
Your LSP can assist with any installation issues. If you do not have an LSP, you may contact the Integrated System Customer Support Center at 3-7550.
