"Reverse termination" is appropriate when an employee was going to leave UVA and changed their mind or an employee was terminated in error.   This process is not appropriate to rehire a terminated employee.  You must email 4help@virginia.edu to request a reverse termination.

Decision

Date Tracking

1.   If the current effective date is the date you wish to use, click on the [No] button.  If not, click on the [Yes] button, enter the date you wish to use in the Effective Date field, and click on [OK].

Finding an Existing Person

2.   Enter all or part of the person's last name in the Full Name field, using the wildcard character (%) as desired, to restrict your search.

3.   Click on the [Find] button.

4.   If the person is found in the database compare the first name, last name, social security number, or other known information with that in the database to ensure that it is the correct person. 

Reverse a Termination of an Employee

5.   Click on the [Others...] button.

6.   Select End Employment from the list of values and click on [OK].

7.   Click on the [Reverse Termination] button.

8.   Click on the [OK] button.

Remove End Date on Special Information Types (SIT)

If the employee had information in any of the following SITs, and these SITs were end-dated at the time of termination, you must remove the end dates.

9.   Click on the [Special Info] button.

Emp-Administrative Appt

10. Select Emp-Administrative Appt.

11. Click in the End Date field of any end dated administrative appointment.  Delete the end date from this field.

12. Click in the Detail field for the administrative appointment you wish to restore.

13. Change the date in the Expected End Date field back to the expected end date of the administrative appointment.

14. Save your work.

Emp-Committee

15. Select Emp-Committee.

16. Click in the End Date field of any end dated committee appointment.  Delete the end date from this field.

17. Click in the Detail field of the committee assignment you wish to restore.

18. Complete the following field:

19. Click on the [OK] button.

20. Save your work.

Emp-HSF Information

21. Select Emp-HSF Information.

22. Click in the End Date field of any end dated HSF contract.  Enter the date the department wants to end charging the HSF Supplement to a PTAEO.

23. Click in the Details field of the contract you wish to restore. 

24. Complete the following field.

25. Click on the [OK] button.

26. Save your work.

27. Close the Special Information window.

End Date Endowed Chair Information

If the employee held an endowed chair, and the record was end dated at the time of termination, you must restore the Endowed Chair record.

28. Click on the [Others...] button. 

29. Select Extra Information from the list of values and click on [OK].

30. Select Emp-Endowed Chairs.

31. Click in the Details field for the Endowed Chair you wish to restore.

32. Complete the following field:

33. Click on the [OK] button.

34. Save your work.

35. Close all windows and return to the Navigator.
