The ODS Help File
When you use the ODS, you will be using database views which were purchased from the Noetix company, together with some U.Va. views which were created here on site.

In order to assist you with using their views, Noetix provides a Help File. You can use this file to locate the data you need, and to find definitions of data elements that you do not understand.
The Help File comes in two forms: a Windows version, and a web version. The web version has the advantage of being available from any machine with an Internet connection. Also, we will update it for you when we make changes.
The Windows version must be downloaded to your PC, but it provides a search capability not available in the Web version. However, the Windows version is created in an obsolete file format; if you are running Windows 7, you will be prompted to download a driver from Microsoft before you use the Help file.
Both versions have been customized to include all the U.Va. custom views in the ODS, as well as the Noetix views. The file will be updated on a regular basis as new views and columns are added to the ODS, and definitions are improved, so if you download the Windows version, you should check back occasionally to see if there is an update.
Not all browsers will download this file correctly. These instructions are for Internet Explorer.
Right-click on the link below to download the current version of the Windows Noetix Help file. Choose Save Target As and save it to a location on your PC that is convenient for you. Then simply double-click the file to use it.
