The process of identifying, assessing and addressing human impacts on the environment is becoming ever more difficult as our focus has broadened to include global environmental issues such as biodiversity and global climate change and as our understanding requires an interdisciplinary analysis that integrates scientific, ethical, political, cultural and social perspectives. The Institute's interdisciplinary faculty working group on environmental policy brings together faculty from such disciplines as English, history, religious studies, law, anthroplogy, medicine and the sciences to create new courses using real-world cases to demonstrate the broad and complex range of issues involved in environmental management, policy, and decisionmaking. Undergraduate student internships in environmental ethics and graduate fellowships provide opportunities for in-depth analysis of environmental study.
