Lodgings at the International Center
Guest lodgings are available for international visitors associated with the University of Virginia. The accommodation goal of the International Center is to create a small community of visitors from around the world who need short-term lodgings (3-month maximum stay). We encourage guests to get to know one another and the IC staff and to join in activities sponsored by the IC. A resident manager lives at the IC to assist guests.
The International Center location is excellent, in a safe and stable residential neighborhood bordering the campus. It is only a 15-minute walk to the historic Rotunda and Lawn area, the Alderman Library, and the Medical Complex. The University bus system has a stop only 5 minutes away by foot. Commercial shopping is also within easy walking distance and on the bus lines.
There are six guest rooms, one with a private bathroom. The other 5 guest rooms share 2 bathrooms. Kitchen facilities are shared amongst the guests, allowing modest food preparation. Guests may use the public areas on the first floor as well as the library. Occasionally the kitchen and public spaces of the IC are used for events (by U.Va. departments and organizations) and guests will be notified in advance.
Accommodations include: bed and bath linens, housekeeping service once a week, coin-operated washer and dryer, access to cable TV and the U.Va. wireless network, use of library, public rooms and kitchen, all utilities except long distance telephone. Guests can use the guest phone (434) 924-3301 to receive calls, to make local calls, and to make long distance calls (with a prepaid phone card).
Rates:
For stays of 16 nights or less:
$40 per night, single occupancy
$60 per night, double occupancy
For stays of more than 16 nights:
$750 per month (additional nights $25 per night) for room with private bath, single occupancy
$1125 per month (additional nights $38 per night) for room with private bath, double occupancy
$650 per month (additional nights $22 per night) for room with shared bath, single occupancy
$975 per month (additional nights $33 per night) for room with shared bath, double occupancy
$550 per month (additional nights $18 per night) for "cozy" room with shared bath, single occupancy
All rates have an additional 5% tax.
Reservations are required. Preference is given to monthly rate guests. Reservations of less than one month are accepted no earlier than 2 weeks prior to arrival. Minimum 3 nights stay. Room cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance, or one full night's rate will be charged. The IC has the right to cancel a reservation after the first night of a no show. Guests who depart early will not receive a refund. Payment is expected as soon as possible after arrival.
