Third Annual Mary Ellen Brown Picnic: For Friends of the International Center. Come experience American hospitality in the beautiful Virginia countryside. Meet other international students and scholars and people who care about international education. Bring outdoor games, musical instruments and hearty appetites!
The food and scenery will be provided by the Brown family in honor of the memory of Mary Ellen Brown, who was the English Conversation Group Leader during the 1990’s. Event will be held rain or shine!!
You are welcome to invite family members and friends.
The IC is coordinating the event and will help to arrange transportation, if needed. Carpooling is suggested.

Come with or without your children to the Downtown Mall (east end, across from the parking garage) for a special invitation for hands-on learning activities. Members of the International Women’s Group who attend this meeting receive a free one-year family membership. Parking tickets will be stamped for free parking in the garage. |

Women's Group: Mystery Auction. This is our International Women’s Group fund raiser for the year. Everyone brings a gift ($5 to $10 in value) wrapped as beautifully as possible. Nobody knows what is in the package but the auctioneer will ask everyone to make offers and the highest offer will win the gift. Great fun. Examples of things you can bring: fancy soap or candles, scarves, food, picture frames, cosmetics, toys, jewelry, DVDs, plants …. For those who prefer to know what they are buying there will also be a silent auction. |

"Explaining Darfur" Former Ambassador from Sudan, Mohamed Zeinelabdin will discuss the Sudanese tribal system, the history of Darfur, and the present crisis in Sudan.
We will have a sampling of Sudanese food at the reception following the discussion. |

Women's Group:Ch’i Kung Class. Hiromi Johnson will lead us in an hour of Ch’i Kung. This Chinese internal martial art, which is done standing or sitting, is designed to increase the body’s flow of energy. Wear comfortable flat shoes. |
