Academic PoliciesEligibility & RequirementsParticipation in January Term 2009 is limited to University of Virginia undergraduate students in Good Standing who are enrolled in an undergraduate degree program. Students with a cumulative GPA below 2.0 will need the signature of their Association Dean (CLAS) or Academic Dean (Architecture, Commerce, Nursing, and SEAS) on the January Term registration form. Applicants for a January Term Study Abroad program must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Academic suspension begins at the end of the fall semester (083) and takes precedence over any earlier plans to participate in January Term. Suspended students who enroll in a U.Va. January Term class will have their registration cancelled and tuition refunded. Students may only register for one January Term course. Students enrolled in a January Term course are expected to attend each class meeting. University of Virginia December Degree Candidates may NOT count January Term work toward their degree. January Term students are subject to the University of Virginia's academic, financial, and non-academic rules and regulations. Grading Options Auditing is not allowed in January Term. Schedule Changes* Students who attend the first day of class and decide to drop the class need the instructor's signature on the January Term add/drop form. Students adding a course on January 2nd need an instructor's signature on the January Term add/drop form. There will be NO refunds after January 2, 2009.* Course withdrawal is permitted January 3 - 6, 2009. Course withdrawal requires the instructor's signature. There is NO refund for a course withdrawal. The January Term add/drop and withdrawal forms are available in the January Term Office, Garrett Hall B019.
