January Term Information for Visiting Students

Students from other colleges and universities are welcome to apply for admission to January Term. To be eligible for admission, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be in good academic and disciplinary standing at their home institution. The minimum GPA requirement is 2.75.
The Visiting Student Application should be completed by Friday November 29, 2013. Note that course registration begins November 22, 2013. Many classes fill shortly after registration opens; thus, interested students are advised to apply as soon as possible.
Visiting international students should apply no later than October 28, 2013. Visiting international students should complete the application documents found here.
Individuals admitted for study in January Term receive a notice of acceptance via email. They are subject to all the academic, non-academic, and financial policies and procedures of the University of Virginia. Students are expected to attend each class meeting.
Visiting students enrolled in a J-Term course have all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of UVa students during the term of study. Admission to January Term does not constitute admission to the University, nor does it allow students to register for courses in subsequent semesters.
