Jewish Studies Essay Prize Announcement

The Jewish Studies Program is offering a prize for the best essay
written in a UVa Jewish Studies course during the academic years 2006–7
and 2007–8.

Papers must be nominated by the faculty member for whom the
paper was written. The first prize winner will receive $100; second and
third prize winners will each receive a book. An awards luncheon will
honor the prize recipients, and nominating faculty will be invited to
attend. Prize winners will give a short presentation on their research
and paper before lunch.

Professors are asked to send an electronic
version of the paper, as well as a one-paragraph description of why the
paper is being nominated, to Gabriel Finder at
gf6n@cms.mail.virginia.edu and Jennifer Geddes at jlg2u@virginia.edu by
April 1, 2008. Awards will be announced on April 23, 2008, and the
awards ceremony will take place on April 30, 2008.
