Students painted the Beta Bridge in honor of Israel's 60th birthday, reminding passersby about the concert by Moussa Berlin and Etti Ankri.

Conference participants met at the Darden School of Business for two days of academic discussion. Approximately 150 participants from Canada, England, Israel, Italy, and across the United States attended the conference.

One of the conference directors, Prof. Joel Rubin (Assistant Professor of Music, McIntire Department of Music, University of Virginia) addressed the participants.

Prof. David McDonald (Indiana University) presented on "Hip-Hop and the Poetics of Palestinian Identities in Israel." Presenters dealt with a wide range of issues. Please see the conference schedule for all papers and panels.

The Moussa Berlin Ensemble and Etty Ankri Band performed on Sunday evening. Prof. Joel Rubin briefly joined Mr. Berlin during the performance.

Israeli superstar Etti Ankri and her band closed the evening with a powerful performance of her own songs.

The audience gave the concert performers a standing ovation.
