Generational Differences
Thursday, November 5th, 2009
In this half-day leadership seminar on Generational Differences, participants will learn best practices for leveraging the generational mix from other departments/organizations, gain a deeper understanding of how their personal generational membership/affiliation impacts their workplace behavior and employee development, recognize age diversity as a strategic advantage for their department/organization and discuss strategies for bridging the generation gaps at work.

This insightful and interactive seminar will help participants understand more fully the personalities, strengths, challenges and development opportunities of the four generations presently in the workplace: Traditionalists (born between 1922-1943), Baby Boomers (1943-1960), Generation X (1960-1980) and Millenials (1980 - present and beyond). Participants will explore together how to effectively work with, develop, manage and lead colleagues of various ages and work experience. Leadership today requires a synthesis of talent acquisition and development; participants in this seminar will learn best practices for one's organization/department to succeed at the highest levels.

The $150 leadership seminar includes all program materials. Continental breakfast and lunch are provided. There is no charge for parking. Participants may exercise registration payment with a PTAO number or, if one is a benefits-eligible UVA employee, a portion of one's new $2000 available in educational benefits. Seminar payment is required of registrants prior to November 5th.

Leading Through Change

This leadership seminar is available for employees at all levels of an organization, though is designed in particular to enhance mid- and senior-level managers' understanding and abilities to more effectively manage change among associates during the implementation of major organizational strategies and initiatives. The seminar program includes the interpersonal dynamics related to organizational change, as well as, providing information and skills related to maintaining productivity, providing support and leading teams during the organizational change process.

This half-day leadership seminar on Leading through Change will utilize assessments, individual work, lecture/discussion and small group work. At the conclusion of this program, participants will have completed the following components: understanding change and how it impacts you and your organization; learning how to leverage the strengths of the organization to implement successful change; identify your readiness and stage of transition in relationship to impending changes; evaluation of your team's readiness for change and generating strategies which will facilitate a successful transition for you and your team; acquire knowledge, skills and tools to lead yourself and your associates to achieve greater productivity during times of turbulence and change.
