The University of Virginia's Office of Major Events manages Finals Weekend (commencement), Fall Convocation, and Founder's Day events annually, along with other special events usually intended for a University-wide audience such as the Inauguration of President Teresa A. Sullivan and a 2013 visit from U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. Major Events is a part of the Office of the President.

Finals Weekend 2015 will be held May 15-17. The College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences will have Final Exercises and diploma ceremonies on Saturday, May 16 and the other 10 schools will hold Final Exercises and diploma ceremonies on Sunday, May 17. Valedictory Exercises, the Donning of the Kente ceremony, and Joint Commissioning Exercises for Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force candidates will take place on Friday, May 15. A detailed schedule will be posted on the Finals site as soon as it is confirmed.
