Parking and Transportation Tips for Final Exercises

These parking and transportation tips have been compiled to provide more detailed information on parking and shuttle routes before and after the 2013 Final Exercises ceremony as well as the proximity of the parking venues to various diploma ceremony locations.

Shuttle Bus Routes BEFORE Final Exercises

From Scott Stadium Map Beginning at 7 a.m., buses will load near the entrance of the Student Activities Building and will stop on McCormick Road near the University Chapel.
From University Hall Map Beginning at 7 a.m., buses will load near the west entrance of University Hall and stop on McCormick Road near the University Chapel. Guests may park in the University Hall or John Paul Jones Arena lots.


Shuttle Bus Routes AFTER Final Exercises

After the Exercises, buses will run from the University Chapel to the following areas:

 Bus stop located at the Drama Building entrance for persons attending ceremonies in the Culbreth Theatre, Caplin Theatre, and Hunter Smith Band Building
McCormick Road
Residence Area Map		 For persons attending diploma ceremonies on West Grounds (Aquatic & Fitness Center, Chemistry Building, Gilmer Hall, Kent House Lawn, Physics Building, and Thornton Hall)
O-Hill Dining Hall Map For persons attending diploma ceremonies in Ern Commons. Bus stop is at the intersection of McCormick and Alderman Roads.
Student Activities Building Map Bus stop located at the Student Activities Building entrance
University Hall Map Bus stop located at the west entrance for those parked at University Hall and John Paul Jones Arena and those attending ceremonies in the John Paul Jones Arena
Darden Graduate
Business School & Law School Map		 Bus stop located between Saunders Hall at the Darden School and the Darden Gate House next to the Law School (next to Sponsors Executive Residence Center)
North Grounds
Recreation Center Map		 For persons attending diploma ceremonies at the North Grounds Recreation Center

Parking Tips: Following the parking tips below will allow you to be closer to your vehicle at the end of the diploma ceremonies on Sunday, May 19.

Central Grounds Diploma Ceremonies Parking Persons attending diploma ceremonies on Central Grounds (Alumni Hall, Brooks Hall, Cabell Hall, the Dell, Drama Building, Hunter Smith Band Building, Jefferson Hall, the Lawn, Memorial Gym, McIntire Amphitheatre, Newcomb Hall, Pavilion Gardens, the Rotunda, Special Collections Library, University Chapel, and Wilson Hall) can park in the Emmet/Ivy parking garage. Complimentary parking will be available but no bus service is provided. It is only a 10-minute walk to the Lawn with a moderate incline.

Another option is to park at Scott Stadium or University Hall and take a bus to the Lawn.

North Grounds Diploma Ceremonies Parking Persons attending diploma ceremonies on North Grounds (Darden School, Law School, North Grounds Recreation Center, and John Paul Jones Arena) may park at University Hall/John Paul Jones Arena and take a bus to the Lawn. Buses will load/unload at the west entrance of University Hall.

Following the Lawn ceremony, buses to North Grounds (and University Hall) will load near the University Chapel.

West Grounds Diploma Ceremonies Parking

Persons attending diploma ceremonies on West Grounds (Aquatic & Fitness Center, Chemistry Building, Ern Commons, Gilmer Hall, Kent House Lawn, Physics Building, and Darden Court at Thornton Hall) are encouraged to park at Scott Stadium and take a bus to the Lawn. Following the Lawn ceremony, buses to West Grounds will load near the University Chapel.

Following diploma ceremonies on West Grounds, the buses to Scott Stadium and University Hall will load in front of the McCormick Road Residence Area (across the street from the Chemistry Building) and at the intersection of McCormick and Alderman Road (across the street from Observatory Hill Dining Hall).

 

Walking Tips: Following these walking tips may be very helpful for getting around Grounds from the parking locations below, in particular if the weather is pleasant during Finals Weekend.

Emmet/Ivy Parking Garage Map No bus service is available from this parking garage. Using University Avenue, it is only a 10-minute walk (with a moderate incline) to the Lawn or to diploma ceremonies on Central Grounds.

Scott Stadium Map
(Map to Central Grounds)		 Using McCormick Road, it is only a short walk to the Lawn (with a moderate incline) or to diploma ceremonies on West Grounds (Aquatic & Fitness Center, Chemistry Building, Gilmer Hall, Kent House Lawn, Physics Building, and Darden Court at Thornton Hall).

University Hall and
John Paul Jones Arena Map		 Using the Goodwin Pedestrian Bridge (across Emmet Street) and the U.Va. Grounds Walk, it is approximately a 10-15 minute walk to Central Grounds (with a moderate incline).
