CAVALIER BAND CAMPS

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL PERCUSSIONISTS!

CAVALIER BAND CAMPS at the University of Virginia

July 8th - July 12th 2009

MARCHING PERCUSSION CAMP

Cavalier Band Camps provide a great educational opportunity to the high school percussionist.  They offer specialized training and a glimpse into the world of a Division 1-A collegiate drumline, all in an organized and enjoyable format. This camp is beneficial to the individual percussionist as well as the entire school drum line. Material covered will include basic to advanced rudimentary percussion techniques, marching fundamentals, and performance fundamentals. The camp will also focus on developing and enhancing the marching percussion and pit percussion ensembles. This is an excellent opportunity for any high school percussionist.

All camps are open to rising 9-12 grade students & graduating seniors. Prior Cavalier Band Camps have included some or all of the following sessions and events:

- world class instruction by special guest artists

- leadership seminars

- use of UVa's state of the art facilities and artificial grass fields

- touring of historical sites around the UVa grounds

- a "HOW TO" session with a UVa admissions officer on preparing for admission to universities!

- a special seminar with a UVa exercise nutritionist on exercise and health to help increase power and endurance as a performer

- a special culminating performance involving all camp groups on the UVa grounds
