You can take a Wahoo out of the band, but you can’t take the band out of
a Wahoo!
The Cavalier Marching Band Alumni Association (CMBAA) is dedicated to
enthusiastically supporting the Cavalier Marching Band, its high level
of achievement, and its proud role as part of the University of
Virginia. Its members seek to honor their experiences in the band by
continuing to interact with each other and with the band. Every activity
undertaken by the CMBAA aids its mission: to provide support for the
Cavalier Marching Band, to serve as a network for past members of the
band, and to promote interaction between current band members and alumni.
We are very excited to hit the ground running with this new
organization. Some of the main goals of our group are as follows:
- To conduct fundraising that whose proceeds will support the band,
especially via scholarships to band students
- To engage interest in the band in their communities, especially
amongst prospective UVa students
- To serve as a network for alumni to communicate with each other and
remain in touch
- To organize alumni social, musical and other events in their communities
- To organize and run various events involving both alumni and current
students during Homecomings Weekend, including joint CMB/Alumni Band
performances
- To organize alumni bands to perform at other events, such as events
at which the CMB is unable to perform or international touring bands
- To provide mentoring and advising programs linking current members
and alumni
The CMBAA is all about having a good time, helping old friends stay in
touch, connecting current students to possible future employers, and
supporting the organization that helped make our experience at the
University of Virginia fantastic!
