VolunteersThere are many ways to get involved with the Cavalier Marching Band. Volunteering can be a great way to become part of our organization. We are always in need of assistance with uniform repairs, equipment loading and transportation, food preparation and distribution, etc. Most high school bands have a booster group that does most of these things for the members. At the university level, the students or volunteers do most of this on game days or rehearsals. If you are interested in volunteering in some way please contact Director Bill Pease at the Cavalier Bands Office. He would love to talk with you about your interest and the needs of our band program.
Dick Coleman "Grandpa Dick" has been with the Cavalier Marching Band since the first performance in 2004. He assists with uniforms, equipment, food; you name it and he does it. The band has never been without Mr. Coleman and he has become a fixture to our program.
"I love Mr. C and we couldn't do this without his support. He cares so much about these students and their well being. He has made such a positive impact on all our lives. Mr. Coleman inspires me and the band students to do our best everyday" ~Mr. Pease Glenn Johnson Glenn drives our trucks and other big equipment needed for the band. He happens to be a parent of a member in the Cavalier Marching Band. Glenn has worked with the band for the 2005 season and plans to continue being involved this season. Glenn is a Charlottesville native and proud graduate of Charlottesville High School and the Charlottesville HS Marching Band.
"Glenn has filled in whenever we have needed him. His dedication and work ethic have made him a valuable member of the team quickly" ~Mr. Pease Jim and Pat Cecil
Jim has been with the band since its inception and Pat began volunteering in 2007. They are originally from Roanoke and moved to Charlottesville in 2002 when Jim accepted a position at UVA. Pat is retired and Jim is employed by the University in the Revenue and Collections Department. Jim is also a 2009 UVA graduate.
"Mr. and Mrs. Cecil have been very dedicated to helping the band over the past 3 seasons. Jim's willingness to help in any way possible has made him invaluable on gamedays. What a pleasant husband and wife team to share their time with the band." ~Mr. Pease
