Band Camp 2011 Updates

8/19/2011: Checkout from the DoubleTree is between 07:00am - 10:00am. Great job everyone on all the hard work put in this week!

8/18/2011: Today is the final day of band camp! In the morning the band will rehearse at Carr's Hill Field. After lunch, sectionals will meet for the last time in their assigned DoubleTree rooms. The band will rehearse at Carr's Hill Field once again after dinner. The band will return to the DoubleTree afterwards to conclude the 2011 Band Camp with an ice cream social.

8/17/2011: This morning, the CMB was photographed at the Rotunda. The full band as well as individual sections were photographed. Afterwards, the band rehearsed drill at Carr's Hill Field. After lunch, sectionals met to work on music. The full band for the first time took the field at Scott Stadium! It was quite a spectacle to see the full band come charging out of tunnels for the first time and performing the whole pregame; music, drill - everything! Congratulations to all the first years for making it this far! Everyone has put in a lot of work this week and it really showed off! In the evening, the sections competed to see who had the most entertaining 7-minute skit. The baritones came out on top with their rendition of Spike TV's "Manswers." The winner of the week was announced afterwards, who is the saxophone section - congratulations!

8/16/2011: The band will depart to Carr's Hill Field this morning to rehearse drill. After lunch, sectionals will meet again to work on music. The band will return to Carr's Hill Field in the evening to put these two together! The sections will compete once more tonight during Section Olympics!

8/15/2011: This morning the band rehearsed at Carr's Hill and CMB members received their drill spots for the pregame performance. CMB members met in their sections to rehearse after lunch. The CMB was then visited by Hunter Smith in the new Hunter Smith Band Building. It was an incredible moment that was concluded by a memorable first-time singing of the Good Old Song in the new building by the whole band. After rehearsal at Carr's Hill, the CMB sections duked it out at the Forest Lakes Pool! The trumpets took first in the synchronized swimming while the saxophones kept their lead by coming in first for the relay.

8/14/2011: Due to rain in the morning, the band rehearsed in sectionals. After lunch, the band rehearsed outdoors at Carr's Hill Field to work on drill. In the evening, the CMB headed to Kegler Lanes for the night and the sections competed once again, in bowling! The saxes again beat the competition leaving the saxes in first for the week, with a tie for second between the drumline & piccolos and a tie for third between the horns & baritones.

8/13/2011: First years checked in this morning and received their uniforms and instruments. In the afternoon, sections met for the first time. The full-band rehearsed for the first time in the evening in the Hunter Smith Band Building. Later in the evening the CMB sections competed in a scavenger hunt. The saxophones came out on top with piccolos in second and horns in third.
