- The National Marriage Project (NMP) is a nonpartisan, nonsectarian, and interdisciplinary initiative located at the University of Virginia. The Project's mission is to provide research and analysis on the health of marriage in America, to analyze the social and cultural forces shaping contemporary marriage, and to identify strategies to increase marital quality and stability.

Publications
In addition to The State of Our Unions, The NMP also publishes:
- Books. The NMP publishes books on a range of marriage and family-related topics. In the next three years, the NMP will publish Soul Mates: Sex, Love, & Marriage among African Americans and Latinos (Oxford, 2011), by W. Bradford Wilcox and Nicholas H. Wolfinger. The NMP will also publish The Happiest Wives, by W. Bradford Wilcox and Christine B. Whelan in 2012. These books aim to make important contributions to contemporary discussions of married life in the academy and the public square.
- Journal Articles. The NMP publishes peer-reviewed journal articles in leading academic publications on a range of topics such as marriage and money, parenthood and marriage, and children and marital stability. These articles are designed to make theoretical and substantive contributions to academic understandings of marriage and family life.
