Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for the major?

Students are only accepted during the Spring semester of their second year and in special cases or in the case of transfers, in the second semester of their third year.

What are the requirements for the major?

We ask applicants to aim for a 3.4 grade point average but applicants with a lower GPA should still apply. Students should complete MDST 2000 and MDST 2010 before applying, as well. In special cases these requirements may be less strict. But please be assured, we are looking for much more than the minimum in-class requirements. The program seeks students who have a demonstrated interest in understanding, producing and/or utilizing the media.

Once admitted to the program, students must complete a total of 11 courses: five required courses, 3 primary electives, 2 secondary electives, and an internship or production course.

Who can I contact if I have questions?
