"Breaking the Chains"

Melanin presents "Breaking the Chains", a staged reading, presented at the Dickinson Main Stage Performance Center for the Fine Arts on February 1, 2013 at 7:30PM. The reading will have a ten minute intermission and will be followed by a talk-back discussion with the cast and directors. The first act, "Freedom's Dream", is a fictional piece written by Rev. Caruso Brown from Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church Drama Ministry. The second act, "Freedom's Seed", is a non-fictional piece taken from writings and speeches of different civil rights leaders such as Ella Baker, Cornel West, Michael Eric Dyson, Septima Clark, Rosa Parks, and others. The cast is a compilation of actors from the community and from the Drama Ministry of Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church.
