UVa Baroque Orchestra and Early Music Ensemble

On Sunday, 30 April, at 8:00 p.m. in Old Cabell Hall, the Early Music Ensemble of the University of
Virginia will present a program featuring works from the late seventeenth and early eighteenth
centuries. Highlights will include Johann Sebastian Bach's Concerto in C Minor for Violin, Oboe, and
Orchestra, with soloists David Sariti, Baroque violin, and guest Sarah Weiner, Baroque oboe. Ms. Weiner
is widely heard in the Washington area performing on both modern and Baroque oboe. Also included will
be excerpts from The Fairy Queen, Henry Purcell's incidental music for a Restoration adaptation of
Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. All of the playing will be done on period instruments, and
singers will be students from the university vocal program.
