Early Music Ensemble

Sunday, April 30, 8:00pm - Old Cabell Hall

On Sunday, 30 April, at 8:00 p.m. in Old Cabell Hall, the Early Music Ensemble of the University of Virginia will present a program featuring works from the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. Highlights will include Johann Sebastian Bach's Concerto in C Minor for Violin, Oboe, and Orchestra, with soloists David Sariti, Baroque violin, and guest Sarah Weiner, Baroque oboe. Ms. Weiner is widely heard in the Washington area performing on both modern and Baroque oboe. Also included will be excerpts from The Fairy Queen, Henry Purcell's incidental music for a Restoration adaptation of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. All of the playing will be done on period instruments, and singers will be students from the university vocal program.

Tickets are $10 general, $5 student, and 5 Arts$ for UVa students, and can be purchased at the Old Cabell Hall Box Office (434)924-3984.
