The Virginia Center for Computer Music presents a scintillating evening of music and sonic art: Digitalis Under the Stars. On the Lower Lawn and beneath the columns of Old Cabell Hall, music for instruments old and new will radiate unto the celestial vault, multiply ten thousand times and return to bathe the Academical Village in light and hope. The University's own MICE, Tim Dalby, Loren Ludwig, Troy Rogers and University Singers Director Michael Slon will premier new work, joined by New Music Ensemble performances of classic pieces by Andriessen, Gubaidulina, Klatzow and Oliveros. Bring blankets and snacks and enjoy this end-of-term musical offering!

The New Music Ensemble portion includes the Sonata for Two Bassoons by Sofia Goubaidulina (with Ibby Roberts and Susan Barber), Ambient Resonances (Echoes of Time and Place) (1994) by Peter Klatzow, Movement I (Max Frantz and I-Jen Fang), and an excerpt from "Workers Union" by Louis Andriessen (for the entire group).
