The Early Music Ensemble concert on Sunday, 29 April, at 3:30 p.m. in Old Cabell Hall will feature two of the Music Department's grad students, Peter Tschirhart and Elizabeth Lindau, in a performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's seldom-heard Concerto in C Major for Two Harpsichords and Orchestra, BWV 1061, accompanied by the UVA Baroque Orchestra. The Baroque Orchestra, led by concertmaster David Sariti, will also perform works for strings and winds by Vivaldi, Charpentier, and Telemann, all performed on period instruments. In addition, the Early Music Ensemble's Renaissance Consorts and Vocal Ensemble will present music from the 16th century. Included will be the Recorder Consort, offering music of late 16th-century Italy, the Viola da Gamba Consort, with music of late-Renaissance England, and the Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble, performing music by Giovanni Gabrieli and other Venetian contemporaries. The Early Music Vocal Ensemble will sing a capella works by John Taverner, Jean Mouton, and William Byrd.

This event is free an open to the public.
