McIntire Department of Music

The McIntire Department of Music's presents a New Music Ensemble concert on Friday, March 21st, 2008 at 8:00pm Old Cabell Hall on the grounds of the University of Virginia. The concert is free and open to the public.

The New Music Ensemble,directed by Kate Tamarkin, Matthew Burtner and Ted Coffey, explores the exciting music of our time. The ensemble consists of dedicated instrumentalists, singers, and UVA performance faculty, who perform a wide variety of contemporary music including new works created by UVA composers.

This concert promises to be very eclectic, and includes some improvisatory works. The concert will feature composers Michael Nyman, Toru Takemitsu, Matthew Burtner, Fred Frith, Daniel Joseph, Ernst Toch, Lou Harrison, Lanier Sammons, Wesley Swing, and Astor Piazzola.
