Abstract:
Nanomedicine offers the promise of uniting several fields
to work toward a common goal. However, this collaborative research
must bridge substantial boundaries involving ethics, funding, student
training, and intellectual property development. Moreover, vastly
differing measures of success are employed by researchers inside and
outside the therapy community. I will comment on several relevant
case histories involving the development of prototype nanomedical
strategies and devices, and I will pose open questions to promote
discussion on how best to organize research in this new direction.
