Jiwei Lu joins the Materials Science and Engineering Department as Research Assistant Professor!

Jiwei Lu, was recently appointed to the position of Research Assistant Professor in the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Department of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS).  Dr. Lu was formerly a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in MSE working with Prof. Stu Wolf on the properties of a number of functional oxides with applications to spintronics.  Dr. Lu is an expert in the growth and characterization of a number of functional electronic oxides that are expected to play a large role in future information technologies both for storage as well as for computation.  He has made some seminal contributions to the understanding of the correlated behavior in a number of unusual oxides that exhibit metal insulator transitions, ferromagnetism, ferroelectricity and more recently multiferroicity.   Dr. Lu obtained his PhD from the University of California Santa Barbara where he pioneered the development of novel oxides whose dielectric properties could be tuned with the application of electric fields.
