Stu Wolf, Director of the nanoSTAR Institute and Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and of Physics has recently been added to the list of ISI Highly Cited Researchers in Materials Science.

ISIHighlyCited.com is the most recent in a series of projects at Thomson Scientific to identify and honor researchers whose collected publications have received the highest number of citations across the past two decades.

Being acknowledged by Thomson Scientific as a Highly Cited Researcher means that an individual is among the 250 most cited researchers for their published articles within a specific time-period. Citation is a direct measure of influence on the literature of a subject, and it is also a strong indicator of scientific contribution, since it is derived from pattern of interaction among millions of published articles. When one researcher cites another’s work, he/she is acknowledging the relevance of that work to the current study. The interaction is both highly specific, and highly informed; it is a statement by an author of the scholarly relatedness of two works.
