The Women's Leadership Development Program (WLDP) is designed to encourage first and second year women who demonstrate great leadership potential to explore the wide range of leadership opportunities available to them at the University of Virginia. Participants have the opportunity to engage in dynamic presentations on women’s leadership, network with fellow future female leaders, and interact with female role models from the local and national community.
This year, the 24th anniversary of the program’s inception, WLDP’s mission
Women’s Leadership Development Program, empowering connected and confident female leaders in their personal, academic, and professional lives. Participants will integrate these skills in local, national, and global communities.
WLDP is open to 1st and 2nd year undergraduate women. The program is held each spring semester and includes an opening reception, three sessions, a closing dinner, and small group meetings. In order to be considered a graduate of the program, attendance is required at all three sessions. Participants will also take part in a program-wide service projects.
What will I learn?
WLDP offers participants a wide range of programming that addresses personal and professional development, networking and communication skills, self-confidence, and leadership style. Each year WLDP offers fun group activities, engaging speakers, and valuable presentations by women leaders.
Goals of WLDP:
The Women’s Leadership Development Program is currently accepting applications from November 4th to November 22nd, 2013. Applications for the program can be found on the WLDP @UVA site under the forms tab. All applications must be received by November 22nd, 2013 by noon. Participants will be notified of their application status by December 9th, 2013.
In mid-October, participants are nominated to WLDP by professors, teaching assistants, resident advisors and other leaders at the University. Participants may also self-nominate. Please contact email@example.com for more information on how to apply.
