The Women's Leadership Development Program (WLDP) is designed to encourage undergraduate women who demonstrate great leadership potential to explore the wide range of leadership opportunities available to them at the University of Virginia. Participants have the opportunity to hear dynamic speeches and presentations on women’s leadership, network with fellow future female leaders, and interact with female role models from the local, national and global community.

This year, the 20th anniversary of the program's inception, WLPD's mission is:

A community of women leaders empowering themselves and others to develop the skills, confidence, and attitude to realize their potential.

Goals of WLDP:

Inspire and motivate 1st and 2nd year women to further develop their leadership skills
Foster a positive attitude of and appreciation for the unique nature of self
Inspire new ways of thinking about leadership and women's roles
Foster a positive attitude of and appreciation for the unique nature of self
Inspire new ways of thinking about leadership and women's roles
Provide opportunities to learn from women with diverse experiences and backgrounds
Build confidence in program participants

The Women's Leadership Development Program is currently accepting nominations for this year's 20th annual program. Please contact uvawleadership@gmail.com for more information or to nominate a first- or second-year woman. All nominations are due October 28th, 2009.
