The Women's Leadership Development Program (WLDP) is designed to encourage first and second year women who demonstrate great leadership potential to explore the wide range of leadership opportunities available to them at the University of Virginia. Participants have the opportunity to engage in dynamic presentations on women’s leadership, network with fellow future female leaders, and interact with female role models from the local and national community.

This year, the 23rd anniversary of the program's inception, WLPD's mission statement is:

Women’s Leadership Development Program, creating a network of confident, engaged, and motivated women in their personal, academic, and professional lives.

The Program

WLDP is open to 1st and 2nd year undergraduate women. The program is held each spring semester and includes an opening reception, three sessions, a closing dinner, and small group meetings. In order to be considered a graduate of the program, attendance is required at all three sessions. Participants may also take part in optional program-wide service projects.

What will I learn?

WLDP offers participants a wide range of programming that addresses personal and professional development, networking and communication skills, self-confidence, and leadership style. Each year WLDP offers fun group activities, engaging speakers, and valuable presentations by women leaders.

Goals of WLDP:
