The Scholarship and Statistics
The 4 year scholarship for Navy, Navy Nurse Corp, and Marine option midshipmen includes:
- Full tuition, in or out of state
- All college/university educational fees, that cannot be refused by the student
- Stipend for textbooks
- Provide all uniforms
- Three summer training cruises
- Subsistence allowance each academic month
Unless the applicant is in the top 10% of his/her high school class, the following must be met.

Navy Option (including nurse): Marine Corps Option SAT: 530 Critical Reading; 520 Math
ACT: 22 English; 21 MathSAT: 1000 composite
ACT: 22 composite

SAT/ACT Math and English / Critical Reading scores can be from two different tests; applicants can combine best Math w/ best English / Critical Reading scores to achieve qualifying scores.

Majors Information (Navy option only, excluding nurse):
Tiers
Each year, certain numbers of scholarships are tied to the major the applicant puts down. There are three tiers to this system. Approximately 85% of initial scholarship awards come from Tier 1 (certain engineering majors) and Tier 2 (other engineering majors and sciences), and the remaining 15% come from Tier 3.
Applicants should keep in mind switching majors while under scholarship requires approval.

LREC
Students interested in pursuing Tier 3 academic majors should examine the opportunities available in the Navy’s Language Skills, Regional Expertise, and Cultural Awareness (LREC) Program. Annually, the Navy will offer this program to 20 – 30 students. Applying for LREC will enhance one’s chance of attaining a scholarship if applying for a Tier 3 major. Attainment of a specific level of language proficiency is not required by the NROTC LREC program.
