FastLane Information

OPRA needs a few weeks notice if you are doing a proposal via FastLane so that we can make sure everyone involved in the project is on the NSF FastLane Database.  If you are not on the Database you cannot do a proposal via FastLane.  If you need a PIN Number for FastLane please contact Patricia Ashley at 982-2380 or pna5a@eservices.virginia.edu and we will have you added to the NSF Database and get a PIN Number for you.

Just a note about the NSF guidelines.

NSF revised their Guidelines on January 2009, please see the new GPG. Due to the fact that the proposals are coming in almost the same day they have to go out we have changed the rules. We will no longer send "draft" proposals around for signature, mistakes are not being caught on proposals because we do not have time to review the final proposal. The proposal must be final before we will send it around for signatures so please make sure you give us enough lead time to get the proposal to OSP for them to submit to NSF. Unless the proposal is going to another school, such as the School of Medicine, we will send a draft in order to get their signatures.

Usually when we have an NSF deadline there are an average of 10 NSF proposals in at one time. The proposal still needs to go around for signature route even though it is electronic submission, we will not send out a proposal that is not signed.

Please go and read over these new guidelines, it is very important as we have had proposals returned because of something as simple as not highlighting in some way the new sections required in the Project Summary.
