Students will sign in, have their student ID photos taken, pick up Orientation materials and academic information, and then move directly into their assigned housing. |

A representative from the Board of Visitors and the Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer will discuss enduring traditions and new initiatives at the University of Virginia. The Director of Orientation and New Student Programs will give a brief overview of the Summer Orientation program.

A representative from the Office of the Dean of Students and two current students will help parents anticipate the U.Va. student experience, understand how the University interacts with students and parents, and determine how to best support their daughter’s or son's growing independence. |

Money Matters

The Director of Student Financial Services and her staff will speak about financial services and resources available to students and families, as well as issues related to financial aid. This session is recommended for all parents. |

Technology at U.Va.
Newcomb Hall Ballroom
Representatives from the Department of Information Technology and Communication (ITC) will discuss the University’s computing environment and services available to students. They will answer questions regarding student computers, what software is needed, issues of general safety and computer security, and where students may obtain help on computer-related matters. ITC staff will conclude with an opportunity to ask questions. |

International Studies Office/International Parents Question and Answer Panel
Newcomb Hall South Meeting Room
International parents will have the opportunity to interact with members of the International Studies Office (ISO) who will advise their students for all non-academic issues. Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions on a wide range of topics about life at U.Va. for international students. Panelists will include staff members from ISO, the International Center, Academic Advising, and Admissions. |

A World of Possibilities: Academic Opportunities at U.Va.

The University offers a rich menu of opportunities outside of the academic year and beyond Charlottesville through January Term, Study Abroad, Semester at Sea, Summer Session, the Center for Undergraduate Research, and the University Internship Program. Learn how students can get the most out of their U.Va. experience. |

Parents and guests will learn about the many opportunities, services, and resources available to help students maintain good health while at the University. A panel of representatives from Student Health and Counseling and Psychological Services will be available to answer questions. |

Parents’ Hospitality and Resource Center

Parents are encouraged to take a few moments to register their e-mail addresses with the University, learn about ways to get involved through UVaFamilies, and meet other parents and University representatives. The center will remain open until 2 pm as a place for parents and guests to check their e-mail, get something to drink, or read the newspaper. |

U.Va. Students: Is Everybody Drinking?

Do you know what U.Va. students really do on the weekends? Parents and students can share their opinions using anonymous, interactive audience response "clickers" (like the ones on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?") and learn to distinguish fact from myth. Representatives from U.Va.'s Center for Alcohol and Substance Education (CASE) will facilitate the session, discuss University resources and answer audience questions. |

Academic and Student Services Resource Fair

Representatives from a variety of offices, including Student Health, the Office of African-American Affairs, the U.Va. Libraries, University Career Services, the Women’s Center, the U.Va. Parents Committee, and the International Studies Office, will provide information about key student support services and answer questions about academic opportunities available for students. |

McIntire School of Commerce (COMM) Information Session for Parents and Students
Rouss and Robertson Hall 120
Attendees will learn about the curricula, courses, and the application procedures for students interested in entering the School of Commerce.
A formal presentation will begin at 12:30 followed by a question and answer session. |

College of Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Information Session for Parents
Newcomb Hall Ballroom
Parents can learn more about the CLAS curricula from faculty and ask any outstanding questions. |

Vaccination Clinic
Newcomb Hall Commonwealth Room
Students can complete their immunization requirements by taking advantage of this immunization clinic. Intravene, a Lynchburg, Virginia, company specializing in immunizations, will offer vaccines during this time. |

School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) Information Session for Parents
Mechanical Engineering Building Room 341
Parents can learn more about the engineering program from faculty and students and ask any outstanding questions. |

Clemons Library Lobby
Parents and guests can pick up a free insulated travel mug and learn about all the exciting things the Library has to offer. A short presentation will be followed by Q & A with a U.Va. librarian. |
