Apply to be an FYS Facilitator
Important Information for Facilitator Applicants
- Please be aware that a considerable time commitment is necessary for this program and you need to be sure you have the time to give and are willing to do so.
- There will be two mandatory training sessions.
- Saturday, December 5, 2009 · 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
- Sunday, January 17, 2010 · 9:30 am – 2:30 pm
- You must be available from at least 7 pm – 10 pm on Monday and/or Tuesday evening in the spring semester. It will help if you are available either evening. However, if you know one or the other is not feasible, please make note of that on the application form. You must also be able to give a minimum of 1–2 hours per week of planning time with your team. A major commitment to fully participate in this effort is critical.
- There is a minimum 2.3 cumulative GPA required in order to be selected as a facilitator.

Essay Questions
The application includes a few essay questions. Limit each response to 250 words.
- What do you want first years to gain from participating in this experience?
- What do you hope to gain as a result of giving time, energy, and commitment necessary to be a successful facilitator and team member?
- What can you tell us about yourself and your leadership style that would help us build the facilitator teams?
- How do you see first year seminar supporting the first year experience?
Interview Sign Ups
After submitting your application, please be sure to stop by the Orientation Office, located on the first floor of Newcomb Hall, to sign up for a 15 minute interview. You must sign up for an interview before 4:00pm November 9.
