So, don't stress, GET PUMPED! for the best 2 days of your summer, and by all means, please don't hesitate to contact me (or any of the OL's!) at any time! Can't wait to meet you all, WAHOOWA!

Ryan Bugas
WAHOOWA. Welcome, 2012! My name is Ryan Bugas and I am ecstatic that you chose to attend the best school in the country (in the #1 city to live in America)! I am a rising third year in the College of Arts and Sciences. I hail from Staunton, VA (Augusta County REPRESENT. Yes, I had a "drive a tractor to school day" in high school!) and I am majoring in Political and Social Thought and Spanish. Around Grounds, I am involved in the University Guide Service, Resident Staff (HOOS IN THE BRAND NEW O'HILL DORM?), Alternative Spring Break (a service-learning organization visiting TONS of great places), Pancakes for Parkinson's, and Class Council. I had somewhat of a rough time transitioning from the high school to the college scene, so if any of you all are feeling anxious or stressed, I can relate to you and I will offer you my two cents on the transition! My time here at U.Va. has been truly special. In the next four years of your life, you will grow emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Be ready to be challenged in many ways, and don't give up if the stars don't align at first--I've learned that persistence pays huge dividends here. But that's down the road--you're a first year NOW! Have fun, get excited, step outside of your comfort zone, and you will begin to shine and leave your mark on this beautiful place. If you have any questions, shoot me a Facebook message or email me. I am here to serve YOU! Get stoked, and GO HOOS!

Erin Golden
Salutations! My name is Erin Golden, and I'm thrilled to be meeting you this summer as you get your first taste of life at the University. I'm a rising fourth year (yikes!) hailing from Williamsburg, Virginia. After two years of dabbling in nearly every department in the College of Arts & Sciences, I finally discovered the wonderful world of anthropology and decided to major in that with a Spanish minor on the side. This will be my second year on Resident Staff at the International Residential College, so I hope you're all excited for the amazing challenges and rewards of life on Grounds. When I'm not at class, reading, or catching up with friends at the IRC, I love to be outside going for walks, hiking the Rivanna Trail, or stargazing at night. My favorite--and somewhat nontraditional--places on Grounds are Observatory Hill (the real hill, not the dining hall) and Brooks Hall (that strange building with gargoyles near the Corner and home of the beloved anthropology department), and I'm happy to share some secrets about these magical places! I hope you're all excited for the tremendous opportunities headed your way as you join the University of Virginia community. Feel free to send me a message at any time with questions, concerns, fears, and excitement--I'm here to help this summer and throughout the upcoming year as you transition to life at U.Va.. Best of luck, and I'll see you soon!
