Apply to be a Site Leader
U.Va.'s Project SERVE is an annual event with a twofold mission: to introduce incoming first-year students to service and service learning opportunities at U.Va. and to familiarize participants with some of the local agencies that rely on the continued dedication and commitment of the University community.
Project SERVE is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2009.
Students may provide leadership for Project SERVE by being Site Leaders. Site Leaders are the students who are responsible for working with community partners to determine (1) the kinds of projects that are available, (2) how to address transportation and volunteer needs, and (3) other critical details. The Site Leaders will help facilitate the reaching of Project SERVE goals.
Goals
- To promote the value of serving others in the community.
- To introduce incoming first-year students to the concept of service learning.
- To provide incoming students who have previous community service experience an opportunity to continue participating in those activities.
- To introduce participants to local community service agencies and to the Charlottesville community.
- To offer opportunities for leadership.
- To enable incoming first-year students to meet and interact with their fellow classmates.
