Student Activities Building (SAB)
8am Students taking the Russian, German, or Latin placement exams should check in at this time.
8:30 to10am All students who are not planning to take a Summer Orientation foreign language placement exam should check in at this time.
Students will sign in, have their student ID photos taken, pick up Orientation materials and academic information, and then drop off their belongings in Hereford Residential College.
Shuttles run from the SAB and Hereford to Old Cabell and Newcomb Halls from 8 to 11 am. |

Russian: Meet proctor on the steps of Old Cabell Hall at 8:15 am (Exam administered only at 8:30 am)
German: Newcomb Hall 389 (Exam administered only at 9 am)
Latin: Newcomb Hall 481 (Exam administered only at 9 am)
NOTE: Please bring two No. 2 pencils to the exams. |

A representative from the Board of Visitors and the Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer will discuss enduring traditions and new initiatives at the University of Virginia. The Director of Orientation and New Student Programs will give a brief overview of the Summer Orientation program. |

New students will meet with Orientation Leaders in an informal setting. Discussion will focus on their rights and responsibilities as members of the community of trust, elements of student self-governance, and opportunities for involvement. |

Students will meet with an Orientation Leader to review the day’s events and prepare for the following day's activities. |

Evening Activities
Aquatic and Fitness Center (AFC)
Students will have the chance to join classmates for an evening of music and food. Students can mingle with the Orientation Leaders, watch a movie in the hot tub, tour the facility, take an aerobics class, or go for a late night work-out. |

U.Va. Students: Is Everybody Drinking?
Newcomb Hall Ballroom
Do you know what U.Va. students really do on the weekends? Parents and students can share their opinions using anonymous, interactive audience response "clickers" (like the ones on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?") and learn to distinguish fact from myth. Representatives from U.Va.'s Center for Alcohol and Substance Education (CASE) will facilitate the session, discuss University resources and answer audience questions. |

Academic and Student Services Resource Fair
Newcomb Hall South Meeting Room
Representatives from a variety of offices, including Student Health, the Office of African-American Affairs, the U.Va. Libraries, University Career Services, the Women’s Center, the U.Va. Parents Committee, and the International Studies Office, will provide information about key student support services and answer questions about academic opportunities available for students. |

Representatives from a variety of business offices, including the Bookstore, Cavalier Advantage, Cavalier Computers, Dining Services, the Housing Division, and Information Technology and Communication (ITC) will provide information and answer your questions. |

Vaccination Clinic
Newcomb Hall Kaleidoscope
Students can complete their immunization requirements by taking advantage of this immunization clinic. Intravene, a Lynchburg, Virginia, company specializing in immunizations, will offer vaccines during this time.

Attendees will learn about the curricula, courses, and the application procedures for students interested in entering the School of Commerce. (This session, which was also presented at Days on the Lawn in April, is recommended for both interested students and their family members.)

Check-Out
Student Activities Building (SAB)
Students will turn in keys and evaluation forms, and are encouraged to take a moment to register their cell phone numbers for U.Va. Emergency Alerts text messaging. In addition, they can pick up their student ID cards. (Note: Turning in keys will avoid a charge on students’ University bill). Students who were not able to have their ID photos taken during Check-In can do so at this time. |
