Most Commonly Asked FAQs
Do all new students have to attend Summer Orientation?
Yes (with the exception of RN to BSN Nursing students). You are expected to attend the appropriate summer session for your school of enrollment. Orientation is where you will learn about the University, ask questions, meet with an academic advisor/faculty member, sign up for classes, and get to know people. You will have the chance to speak with representatives from various offices, including Housing and Residence Life, and Dining Services. Additionally, you will take care of many logistical details, such as familiarizing yourself with Grounds and getting your student ID.
When and how will I be able to sign up for a Summer Orientation session?
You will be able to register for Summer Orientation 72 hours after you have paid your $400 deposit and once you have taken the Responsible Computing Tutorial and activated your U.Va. email. You will complete the registration process in the Register section of this website. After you activate your U.Va. email, you will also be able to take care of all your pre-enrollment requirements such as applying for housing and choosing a dining plan.
How do I modify or change my session selection after I’ve already confirmed one?
To change your orientation session after you have already confirmed a session, you may log back into the system any time prior to June 2 to change your session date. Go to Registration Page. Click on Register. This will prompt you to netbadge into the orientation registration system using your U.Va. computing ID and password. Scroll down to Session Information and click Modify Orientation Session. Update your session selection and a new confirmation letter will be sent to you.
