The following schedules for summer 2013 will provide you with a general outline of what is covered in your Orientation program.

Session H · Wednesday, August 21

9:00 am – 4:00 pm

International Studies Office Open House · Minor 208

Stop by the International Studies Office to meet the ISO staff. Bring your legal documents to be photocopied. Light refreshments will be served.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm
3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Check-In · Ern Commons-Alderman Road Residential Area

Sign in, have student ID photo taken, pick up Orientation and academic information, and then move directly into your assigned housing.

UVAExpress. International students and guests participating in Session H can take advantage of UVAExpress, a free, coordinated bus transportation and hospitality program for international students from Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC and Charlottesville Airport to the University of Virginia on Monday, August 19 and Tuesday August 20, 2013 Make sure to register on the UVAExpress website.

The program is coordinated by the University of Virginia's Office of Engagement. It is financially supported by an U.Va. alumnus in Singapore and the U.Va. Parents Committee.

If you are an incoming transfer student starting in the McIntire School of Commerce in the fall, please visit the following website for your Orientation Schedule. Please refer to this schedule only.

Welcome Dinner for International Students and Parents · Alumni Hall Ballroom

International first-year and transfer students and their families are invited to a casual dinner at Alumni Hall. Hosted by the University’s Office of Engagement, guests will have the opportunity to meet University faculty and staff, key University leaders, new classmates and their families and student leaders. Please consider public transportation, walking or a taxi. Limited parking is available.

Dean's Address and Course Scheduling Workshops

Meet with a dean from your school of enrollment who will present academic requirements and work with Orientation Leaders and faculty members to review your fall course schedule.   If possible, bring transcripts, SAT II, AP, and language placement exam scores.

Student Health Medical Records Consultation Hours · Student Health 400 Brandon Ave

If you have not already turned in your Pre-Entrance Health form, please take advantage of these consultation hours and visit Medical Records to submit your forms. You must have your forms in 2 days prior to any immunization appointment at Student Health.

Mandatory Registration Meeting for International Students with the International Studies Office · Chemistry 402

If you are an international student – no matter what your visa status, you must attend this session. Please bring your passport, visa, I-94, and I-20 or DS-2019 (if applicable).
Hear about legal issues concerning your status as an international student.

Failure to attend will result in a course registration block and potential loss of legal status.
