The following schedules for summer 2015 will provide you with a general outline of what is covered in your Orientation program. The schedules will be updated continuously throughout the summer.

Sign in, pick up orientation and academic information, and enjoy a light breakfast.  For those who need overnight accommodations, pick up swipe/access cards.

9:00 – 9:45 am

Welcome Address · Old Cabell Hall Auditorium

Come hear about enduring traditions and new initiatives by important members of the U.Va. community.

10:00 – 12:00 pm

Dean’s Address and Course Advising Workshops

Meet with a dean from your school of enrollment to learn about academic requirements. Work with Orientation Leaders and faculty advisors to build your fall course schedule. If available, be sure to bring credit evaluation of transcripts, SAT II, AP, IB and language placement exam scores. Students in the College of Arts & Sciences MUST bring a hard copy/printed version of courses you have pre-selected in the Student Information System (SIS) and placed in your shopping cart.

During your assigned time, bring your course selections to the following locations to register for courses.

2:00 – 5:00 pm

Check-Out/ID Distribution · The Forum at Observatory Hill

Check-Out will not begin before 2:00 pm.

Students will pick up their student ID in The Forum at Observatory Hill (located in Alderman Road Residential Area).  Please note: student IDs will only be available for pick up during check-out.  *If you stay overnight, you must check out the following morning by 11am at Conference Services in Page Residence Hall on Bonnycastle Drive off McCormick Road.

Meet Orientation Leaders on the 3rd floor terrace of Newcomb Hall.

Take a tour of University classroom buildings.

Participants include offices such as: Office of the Dean of Students, Office of African-American Affairs, U.Va. Career Center, Student Health, the International Studies Office, University Bookstore, Cavalier Advantage, Cavalier Computers, Dining, Housing & Residence Life and Information Technology Services.
