The following schedules for summer 2013 will provide you with a general outline of what is covered in your Orientation program.

Transfer · July 22: Session E & July 23: Session F

7:30 am – 8:30 am

Check-In · Student Activities Building

Sign in, pick up Orientation and academic information, and enjoy a light breakfast.  For those who need overnight accommodations, pick up keys.

9:00 am – 9:45 am

Welcome Address · Old Cabell Hall Auditorium

Come hear about enduring traditions and new initiatives by important members of the U.Va. community.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Dean’s Address and Course Scheduling Workshops

Meet with a dean from your school of enrollment who will present academic requirements and work with Orientation Leaders and faculty members to build your fall course schedule. If possible, bring transcripts, SAT II, AP, and language placement exam scores.

College of Arts & Sciences Department Meetings · Various Locations

Incoming College of Arts & Sciences Third Years meet with a representative from the department in which you plan to declare your major.

Course Registration

Bring course selections to the following locations during your assigned time in order to register for courses.

  • Arts & Sciences: Wilson 301
  • Curry School of Education: Bavaro 306 (Session E only)
  • Nursing: Claude Moore Nursing Education G120 (Session E only)
2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Check-Out · Student Activities Building

Check-Out will not begin before 2:00 pm.

Students will pick up student ID in Runk Green Room (located Hereford Residential Complex).  Please note: Student IDs will only be available for pick up during Check-Out. *If you stay overnight, you must check out the following morning by 11am at Conference Services in Page Residence Hall, located on Bonnycastle Circle off McCormick Road.

Money Matters · Newcomb Kaleidoscope

Members of the Student Financial Services team will discuss how to best stay informed about the tuition bill, various payment options offered, using Veteran’s benefits, and other important money matters.  You will also have the opportunity to ask your own specific questions regarding financing an education.

1:30 pm – 2:15 pm (Session F Only)

Student Life Panel · Newcomb 389

Ask a panel of Orientation Leaders questions about acclimating to student life.

2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Resource Fair · Newcomb Ballroom

Participants include offices such as; Office of the Dean of Students, Office of African-American Affairs, University Career Services, International Studies Office, The Bookstore, Cavalier Advantage, Cavalier Computers, Dining, Housing & Residence Life and Information Technology Services (ITS).

2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Off-Grounds Housing Fair · Newcomb Ballroom

Speak with various realtors who lease apartments within the neighboring Charlottesville community.   Ask questions and get information about obtaining off-Grounds housing.

Learn about the curricula, courses, and application procedures for entering the School of Commerce.
