Student Schedule
Session H (July 18)
SEAS and Second-Year CLAS Transfer Students

7:30-8:30am

Check-In
Student Activities Building (SAB)
Students will sign in, have their student ID photos taken, and pick up Orientation materials and academic information, such as the Course Offering Directory and their VISTAA reports. Students needing overnight accommodations will also receive their keys at this time. A light breakfast will be available.

Shuttles will run from the SAB and Hereford to Old Cabell and Newcomb Halls from 7:45 to 9:30am.

9-9:45am

Welcome Address
Old Cabell Hall Auditorium
A representative from the Board of Visitors and the Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer will discuss what’s new and what’s enduring at the University of Virginia.  Information will also be available about what to expect from the Summer Orientation program.  The Director of Orientation and New Student Programs will give a brief overview of the day.

10-10:45am

School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) Dean’s Meeting
Thornton Hall E-316
An Engineering School dean will provide a brief overview of the SEAS curricula and give pertinent information for building a fall course schedule.

1oam - 12:00 noon

College of Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Dean’s Meeting and Course Scheduling Workshops
Newcomb Hall Ballroom
The dean of transfer students for the College will address opportunities, requirements, and academic policies.  A faculty member and Orientation Leaders will then meet in small groups to assist students in planning their fall schedules.

10:45am-5pm

SEAS Individual Meetings with Faculty and Course Registration
Various Locations
Students will meet with a faculty member to review their course schedule and register for classes.

12:15-1:30pm Drop-in Lunch
Newcomb Hall Dining Room
1-5pm

CLAS Course Registration
Bryan Hall 235 and Garrett Hall offices
CLAS Students will have their course schedules entered into the registration system according to assigned registration times.

3:30-6pm

Check-Out
Student Activities Building (SAB)
Students will pick up their student IDs and turn in evaluation forms.  They are also encouraged to take a moment to register their cell phone numbers for U.Va. Emergency Alerts text messaging. 
(Note: Students staying overnight must check out the following morning by  11 am at Conference Services in Kent Residence Hall, located on Bonnycastle Circle, off McCormick Road.)

Yearbook Pictures
Newcomb Board Room
Students can have their photos taken to appear in the upcoming edition of Corks and Curls, the University’s yearbook.

1-2pm

Academic and Student Services Resource Fair
Newcomb Hall South Meeting Room
Representatives from a variety of offices, including Student Health, the Office of African-American Affairs, the U.Va. Libraries, University Career Services, the Women’s Center, the U.Va. Parents Committee, and the International Studies Office, will provide information about key student support services and answer questions about academic opportunities available for students.

University Services Resource Fair
Newcomb Hall Commonwealth Room
Representatives from a variety of business offices, including the Bookstore, Cavalier Advantage, Cavalier Computers, U.Va. Dining Services, the Housing Division, and Information Technology and Communication (ITC), will provide information and answer your questions.

1-3pm

Hoo’s In
Newcomb Hall 360
Student Financial Service staffers will answer questions regarding tuition and financial aid, as well as help families sign up for payment plans.  For Summer Orientation sessions starting after tuition bills are mailed on July 13th, this office will accept tuition payments.

1:30-2:15pm

Student Life Panel
Newcomb Hall Ballroom

Students will have the chance to ask a panel of Orientation Leaders and Transfer Student Peer Advisors (TSPAs) questions about acclimating to student life at U.Va.

2-3pm

McIntire School of Commerce (COMM) Information Session for Parents and Students
Rouss and Roberton Hall Room 246
Attendees will learn about the curricula, courses, and the application procedures for students interested in entering the School of Commerce.  (This session, which was also presented at Days on the Lawn in April, is recommended for both interested students and their family members.)

2-4pm Off-Grounds Housing Fair
Newcomb Hall Art Gallery
Speak with various relators who lease apartments within the neighboring Charlottesville community. The Manager for Off-Grounds Housing will also answer any questions students may have about obtaining off-Grounds housing.
2:30-3:30pm

Tour of Classroom Buildings
Meet on the Steps of Old Cabell Hall

Want to find the quickest way to get from class to class in the fall? Take a tour that focuses on becoming familiar with the classrooms and buildings on the Grounds.

2:30-4:30pm

Residence Hall Open House                  
Transfer students can visit a room in the upperclass residential area Gooch/Dillard.  This housing option will offer events coordinated by Resident Staff members and supported by the Transfer Student Peer Advisors (TSPAs).

5-6pm
