There are a number of ways to find programs in Outreach Virginia. You can use one of them alone or combine two or more in a Combination Search.

Region
Find programs that serve a particular region of Virginia or that are available to people throughout the Commonwealth, the nation, and the world.

Program Type
Find programs offered in a format that best fits your needs, from special events, such as conferences, to part-time educational opportunities and volunteer services.

Special Audiences
Find programs that serve special groups of people, such as children, senior citizens, or persons with disabilities.

Interest Area
Find programs related to a common topic, such as science and technology or health care and human services.

If you're not sure where to begin, we suggest starting with the Interest Area section of the search page. Select three or four of the areas that seem most interesting to you. The results will get you started exploring the OutreachVirginia Guide to Public Service Programs at U.Va.

Can't Find a Program?

If you're looking for a specific kind of program that doesn't fit our standard search criteria, try using the Keyword Search feature. A keyword search will look through the text of every program to find a particular word or combination of words.

If you've tried looking for a program using several search methods and still can't find anything in the guide, there could be two possible explanations. The University of Virginia may not offer a program that meets your needs. Or, a program may exist and just not be listed in the database. In either case, we'd like to hear from you. Our Outreach Webmaster might be able to help you find the program to meet your needs.

Are You Responsible for a U.Va. Public Service Program and Wonder Why Your Program Isn't in Outreach Virginia?

Click on the Program Director link on the top navigation bar. Under the Adding Your Program subheading click Add a New Program link.

Complete the on-line form to add your program to the guide. It will take 1-2 days for the webmaster to review your program information and add it to Outreach Virginia. The webmaster may contact you with questions about your submission. Otherwise, you should see your program information appear on the database within a few days.

Found Too Many Programs?

If your search produces too many results, try narrowing your criteria through a combination search. A combination search allows you to be very specific about the type of program you need. For example, if you were looking for a program that offered counseling for women with breast cancer, you might check the following:
