Be Active: Bike Racks on Buses

TDM is in the process of equipping all UTS buses with bike racks so cyclists can easily transition from riding their bike to riding the bus. Each bike rack will be able to hold 3 bikes at a time.

Step 1 Step 1

Grasp the top bar of the rack, squeeze the marked handle, and pull the rack down towards you.
Step 2 Step 2

Place your bike on one of the open bike racks closest to the bus. Your front tire should be in the slot where the rotating handle is.
Step 3 Step 3

While holding on to the bike to keep it steady, rotate the handle upwards so that it fits snugly on your bike's front tire.
Bike Secure on Bus Bike Rack You're Done!

Your bike is now secure and you're ready to go for a ride with UTS.

Please raise the bike rack to its upright stowed position after removing your bike if no other bikes remain.

Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) buses are also outfitted with bike racks, and U.Va students, faculty, and staff can ride CTS routes for free with a valid U.Va ID. Click here to learn more about CAT bike racks.
