NuRide: The Rewarding Way To Go

The University of Virginia is pleased to offer U.Va employees, students, and residents of the greater Charlottesville area access to NuRide, the nation's largest online rewards program for individuals who take greener trips. NuRiders get points by carpooling, taking transit, cycling, walking, teleworking, and even working a compressed work week. These points can be used to receive discounts and special promotions from local, national, and University vendors. |

How to Join
Becoming a member of NuRide is free and is available to all U.Va faculty, staff, students, and residents of the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle, Greene, Nelson, Orange, Madison, Fluvanna and Louisa counties. Residents of other counties may also join if at least one leg of their journey is within the membership area. Members must be 18 years old and affiliated with an organization such as an employer, school, or University.

NuRide members can easily track their greener trips online to start earning rewards. Greener trips include carpooling or vanpooling, taking public transportation (like UTS, CAT, or Amtrak), biking, walking, or teleworking. Members can plan trips 30-days in advance or record past trips that happened 30-days in the past.

All trips count, not just work trips. Green trips to the shopping center, a concert or even a 'hoos game count towards points. Members get points for up to two trips per day and are welcome to track as many trips as they would like in order to view their total emission reductions.

Redeeming points for rewards is quick and easy. Log into your NuRide account to see how many points you have, then look for the available rewards and redeem your points for the one you want. Most rewards will be e-mailed to your preferred e-mail address.

By tracking their greener trips members will be able to see how much they save on their commute. Additionally, members can see the positive impact they are having on the environment by choosing an alternative mode of transportation. NuRide tracks the emission reductions associated with nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds (VOC), and carbon dioxide (CO2). Members can also view how much money they save on gas and vehicle maintenance. |
