Reservations, Eligibility and Billing



Reservations may be submitted online by filling out our Online Charter Request. Reservations may be made 6 months in advance. Please contact our Charter Representative to make arrangements to apply for charter services offline at (434) 924-6816 or

You will receive a confirmation by email once the request has been processed. If you do not have a confirmation letter within two weeks of placing your request or within four days of your charter, please email or call (434)924-6816 to check on its status.

In order to confirm a reservation for a University of Virginia Department or direct affiliate UTS requires a valid PTAO number and/or billing address. Reservation confirmations for non-affiliates require a deposit of 50% of the estimate balance in order to guarantee service. Please note that reservations are still binding in accordance with the Charter Policies regardless of whether a deposit is received. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

University Transit Service's charter services are provided for University-affiliated groups and functions only. Please contact us at or (434) 924-6816 for more information.

Charter service is not available on days of large events at the University and some holidays. Days in which service is not available include, but is not limited to, the following:


Charter services are calculated upon estimated startup, shutdown and running times. Full payment is due five (5) business days before the start of an event. Questions regarding your charter requests and reservations should be directed to the Charter Office at (434) 924-6816. Questions about your billing should be directed to the Parking & Transportation Business Office at (434) 924-7231.
