C1 Permit Holders
Upcoming Construction: Disruptions to C1 Parking
There are significant improvements coming to C1 and the surrounding parking areas that will disrupt normal parking and travel routines; but will result in upgrades in the very near future. These items are:
- Final Exercises – Access to the C1 parking lot will be limited based on Graduation needs for Saturday and Sunday. The C1 lot, as in the past, will be used by different Schools in support of their academic celebrations. If you have special needs to access that area on Saturday (5/18) or Sunday (5/19), please submit that request to the Office of Major Events.
- McCormick Bridge – The McCormick Road Bridge will close to vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Monday, May 20. That closure will continue through the summer. This will cause access to parking for C1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, Departmental, Disability, and Services Spaces, to shift from Alderman and the Emmet Street Ramp to McCormick Road from University Avenue. Please see the map below and feel free to contact us at parking@virginia.edu with specific questions. The project is expected to be completed by the end of July.
- C1 lot – The C1 lot will be milled and paved beginning Wednesday, May 22 at 6:00pm through Thursday, May 23 at 4:00pm. This means that no cars will be allowed in or out during these times. Parking will be provided for those displaced during that time in the Central Grounds Garage, or the Culbreth Road Garage. The following map gives you the best walking path to take for that 22 hour period. If you should have specific disability needs, please contact our office at 924-7231 to discuss.

C1 permit holders will be required to vacate the C1 lot to accommodate event parking for certain events at Old Cabell Hall. C1 permit holders may relocate to any other parking lot on grounds that is not considered an "all times" lot and is not reserved for another event.
C1 permit holders are also required to vacate the C1 lot for all home football games. C1 permit holders may relocate to the parking lots at University Hall and the John Paul Jones Arena.

Teaching faculty with academic requirements that necessitate using the C1 lot on home football game days or during Old Cabell Hall reservations may make arrangements through the Provost's Office to remain in the C1 lot. A special permit will be required for football game days and a separate special permit will be required to remain in the lot on the nights the lot will be used for events at Old Cabell Hall.
